BLAIZ & ANTONIOS TILL WE’RE GHOSTS BLACK WEDDING IN NEW ORLEANS

“Our wedding was a true reflection of our love, filled with genuine connection and unforgettable memories in the city we cherish.”

Setting the Scene

Choosing New Orleans, Blaiz’s favourite place, for their wedding was a no-brainer for the couple. The Court Yard at House of Broel offered the perfect setting for their small, intimate ceremony. They loved the venue’s charm and the convenience it offered with pre-arranged decorations, cake, and photography, eliminating the need for a reception.

After the ceremony, they celebrated with dinner at Vampire Apothecary and enjoyed the vibrant nightlife on Bourbon Street. The flowers were beautifully arranged by Ken at Fabulous Flowers, and the cake was a delectable creation from Swiss Confectionery. Little touches like their cake topper, guest book, shoes, and save-the-dates were thoughtfully sourced from Etsy, adding personal flair to their special day.

Looking the Part

Blaiz wore a stunning black Jasmine Bridal Couture gown named Sadie. From a young age, she knew she didn’t want a traditional white dress, and the moment she saw Sadie, she fell in love. Antonio complemented her look with an all-black ensemble from ISW Menswear in Arlington, TX. Their children also embraced the all-black theme, creating a cohesive and striking visual.

Memorable Moments

The day was filled with a mix of excitement and nerves. Blaiz, missing her recently passed mother, found solace in her daughter walking her down the aisle to the piano version of Alanis Morissette ‘Head over feet’ where Antonio met them half way down he led her the rest of the way.  A particularly touching moment was when Antonio, a tough Army veteran, was moved to tears upon seeing Blaiz in her dress for the first time.

One amusing incident involved Blaiz accidentally leaving the rings in her bag upstairs, prompting her daughter to dash mid-ceremony to retrieve them. Meanwhile, their energetic son made several attempts to join them at the altar, adding a bit of delightful chaos to the proceedings.

They had friends and family travel from from all over- Arlington, TX Houston TX and California so it was so special that so many people made the effort and journey to celebrate their love.

Honeymoon

Post-wedding, Blaiz and Antonio enjoyed a week in New Orleans but are planning their actual honeymoon for the future. Dreaming of a beach escape, they hope to visit the black sand beaches of Hawaii within the next year.

Engagement Photos

Just two days before the wedding, Blaiz and Antonio had their engagement photos taken by Stacy Marks in a New Orleans cemetery. The unconventional setting provided a stunning backdrop, perfectly capturing the essence of their relationship.

Blaiz and Antonio: A Love Story in NOLA

On May 4th, 2024, Blaiz Mulock (33, she/her) and Antonio Ferrel (40, he/him) celebrated their union in an intimate ceremony at the Court Yard at House of Broel in New Orleans. This day marked not only their sixth anniversary since their first date but also the beginning of their journey as a married couple. With a theme of “till we’re ghosts” and an all-black colour scheme, their wedding was a reflection of their unique love story and personal style.

Early Days

Blaiz and Antonio’s love story began through a mutual friend—Blaiz’s best friend and Antonio’s coworker. They were set up on a date at Applebee’s on May 4th, 2018, and have been inseparable ever since. Their connection was immediate and deep, setting the stage for a beautiful relationship.

Popping the Question

The proposal came as a delightful surprise on Christmas morning in 2021. As Blaiz found her ring hidden in her stocking, Antonio, lying next to her, simply asked, “Well, do you?” It was a spontaneous and heartfelt moment, perfectly encapsulating their straightforward and loving relationship.

Blaiz and Antonio’s day was made extra special by the friends and family who traveled from Arlington, TX, Houston, TX, and California to celebrate with them. They are also grateful to their vendors who brought their vision to life.
